Introducing the Announcement Bar

When an Article is important and needs to be seen by your site visitors immediately, add it to the Announcement Bar to show up on the very top of every page.

New Features

Today we released an update for all of our MUNI Users - the ability to mark an Article to show up in an Announcement Bar on the top of every page of your municipal website. Read below for details and how to leverage the new feature.

Why

To highlight important, timely Articles that site visitors need to see.

How

When posting an Article, simply check the box for "Mark article to show in the Announcement Bar".

What will that do?

On the live website, the announcement bar will show up on the very top and will include the title of the Article and a button to read the full Article.

Important to know

The Announcement Bar will only show one Article at a time. By default, it will show the most recent Article according to the date field (as long as it was marked to show in the Announcement Bar, of course).

Helpful Tips

When selecting the "Mark article to show in the Announcement Bar" checkbox in the Article submission form, a date field will appear. There, you will be required to select the day the Article will be no longer be featured in the Announcement Bar. This is to prevent old and irrelevant Articles from remaining featured.

It is perfectly fine to have no Articles showing up in the Announcement Bar. In fact, the site is designed to not have an Announcement unless there is something that needs to be noticed by your site visitors. If there is always an Announcement, visitors might stop noticing and you create a "boy who cried wolf" scenario.
